There are two tanks in a screw compressor system. The first one is inside the screw compressor, called oil gas tank. In the oil gas tank, lubrication oil exists and also the oil mists are separated to keep compressed air clean; the second one is air receiver tank which is normally installed after the compressor. An air receiver tank will have the function of buffering the pressure pulses, storing compressed air, protecting other weak equipments and water removing.

Lubrication oil will be needed in screw compressor. It could take away the compressing heat from the air end to cool down the air end, lubricate the moving parts like rotors and bearings, seal the tiny gaps between rotors for higher compressing efficiency. Moreover, the lubrication oil could also take away some dusts from the compressed air so the air dryer and line filters could be further protected.
